Fire Marshal Training

Our Fire Marshal training course is designed for employees that have the additional responsibility of being a Fire Marshal within the workplace. It gives delegates a more in depth knowledge of fire safety within the work place along with additional skills to enable them to carry out weekly and monthly checks on fire safety systems and coordinate evacuations.
Having trained Fire Marshals in your workplace will not only ensure a smooth safe evacuation in the event of an emergency, they are a valuable asset to the Responsible Person for assisting in tasks such as testing and inspecting fire safety systems (user responsibilities) and ensuring staff compliance with fire safety policies and procedures in their area of work.
Aim
- To introduce delegates to the relevant fire precautions legislation including an overview of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
- To familiarise delegates with the additional responsibilities expected of them as Fire Marshal's
- To assist delegates in identifying potential workplace fire hazards
- To look at and understand company specific fire safety and evacuation policy and procedures
- To provide delegates with the required knowledge and tools to enable them to successfully carry out their roles
- To give delegates an understanding of basic fire safety in the workplace and in the home
Objectives
At the end of a Fire Awareness Course, delegates will be able to:
- Name the relevant legislation that applies to workplace fire safety
- Spot potential workplace fire hazards and know the procedures for reporting them
- Know the duties of a fire marshal and to feel confident in the role
- Be competent in carrying out daily, weekly and monthly inspections and tests of fire safety systems
- Understand your companies fire safety and evacuation policy and procedures
- Instinctively know the actions Fire Marshal's should take in an emergency situation
- Understand the chemistry of fire (how fires start and spread)
- Be able to state the classes of fire and the methods of extinguishing them
- Select and effectively use the correct fire extinguisher according to the class of fire
- Have a greater understanding of fire safety both in the work place and at home
